Eight Thai transmasculine candidates are competing in Thailand’s upcoming elections on May 14, 2023. In a society where discrimination persists and access to equal rights is denied, these candidates are using political action to advocate for trans-specific and broader LGBTI+ rights in Thailand. As transmasculine candidates, they bring the voices and lived experiences of transmasculine people into Thai politics and beyond.
On May 6, The Fort will host a Thai-language roundtable with four Thai transmasculine political candidates to discuss gender inclusion and diversity in Thai politics. This event seeks to provide space for transmasculine candidates to discuss challenges facing trans-political leaders and policies and recommendations to advance transgender and broader LGBTI+ rights in Thailand.
The organizer of this event is TEAK – Trans Empowerment.
The event will include a presentation by Atitaya Asa, Project Manager from the TEAK – Trans Empowerment, followed by a moderated roundtable discussion with Thai transmasculine political candidates.
This event is open to the public and free of charge. The event will also be live-streamed on The Fort’s Facebook Page with simultaneous English language interpretation.
