The Fort Films: Oscar-winning “20 Days in Mariupol” Film-Screening
February 2026 marks four years since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine—the largest war in Europe in decades, claiming hundreds of thousands of lives. Amid attempts to obscure the truth, journalists have risked everything to document the realities on the ground.
20 Days in Mariupol brings those realities to the screen. Based on Ukrainian journalist Mstyslav Chernov’s frontline reporting and personal footage, the film offers a powerful and unflinching account of civilians trapped during the siege of Mariupol in 2022. It also reveals the extraordinary risks journalists take to ensure the world sees what is happening inside a war zone.
On March 13, 2026, The Fort hosted a film-screening organized by Fortify Rights of the film, followed by a thought-provoking discussion with guest speakers offering diverse perspectives: human rights and firsthand insights, and conflict and peace through film and movie production.
