From Arrival to Survival: Conditions of Newly Arrived Rohingya Refugees in Bangladesh

On June 18, 2026,  The Fort hosted a report launch and panel discussion organized by the Youth Congress Rohingya (YCR), a Rohingya refugee-led, camp-based organization, for the report, From Arrival to Survival: Conditions of Newly Arrived Rohingya Refugees in Bangladesh.

The 70-page report documents the experience of newly arrived Rohingya refugees in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, after being forcibly displaced by ongoing armed conflict and violence in Rakhine State, Myanmar. In the camps in Bangladesh, newly arrived Rohingya refugees face significant barriers to accessing humanitarian services and sustaining livelihoods, including inadequate shelters, food insecurity, restrictions on access to healthcare, movement, and other challenges. The report also documents gender-based violence and other forms of violence affecting refugees in the camps. Furthermore, the report documents atrocities committed by both the Arakan Army and the Myanmar military junta.
